DuPage and state officials scramble to keep open the fledgling sanctuary in Bartlett
The Indian and big bluestem grasses bend in the breeze. Beneath the chorus of sparrows and
red-winged blackbirds is the dull drumming of a woodpecker. A nest of great blue herons overlooks a
marsh created by a beaver dam.
Tri-County State Park in Bartlett offers a placid setting in a sea of suburbia, but now there's
also an air of uncertainty. Funding to operate the park, one of the closest state parks to downtown
Chicago, could run out by the end of the summer.
I couldn't find the article on the web page that was given. Hopefully they removed it because from my understanding it gave false information. It's true that the state did not budget for running the Tri-County State Park for the remainder of the year. The DuPage County FPD has been running the park with funds from the state. The FPDDC will continue to run the park at the same level from the rest of the year using FPDDC funds. Hopefully the state will fund the park next year.

If your search picked up the article because of the title phrase 'fledgling sanctuary in Bartlett', it has nothing to do with feathered fledglings.
